Bloody Hell, over a year...

...Since my last post.
Went back to Les Sables for three weeks as mentioned last year. Weather was a bit iffy, but made friends with a couple of families, and had a good time. Just about to email Rob and update him on the dramas of our car. The battery died on the last night, so when we tried to leave, it wouldn't start. Jump starting it was no use either.
Last year I'd plugged a fridge into the cigarette lighter the night before and it wouldn't start then, either. I didn't panic despite having no European breakdown insurance, I just rang the RAC and explained the situation. They gave me a number in Lyon of the French RAC office, and 200 euros later a breakdown recovery vehicle was on its way.
Now bearing in mind that this was the last day of our holidays, there wasn't much cash available, and there wasn't a car to go to a cashpoint and get some either!! After about an hour the mechanic arrives, fiddles for a couple of seconds and puts a new battery in. Hey presto, problem solved, 79 euros thank you very much. Fortunately we'd got a let ferry, and were leaving early to have lunch in Avranches, so time wasn't a problem. Will upload some photos if I can remeber how, later.
